Alex's practice has been centered around employee benefit plans for more than 30 years. He keeps in constant contact and communicates with Fund Administrators, Trustees and accounting personnel, particularly with regard to recommendations for systems improvements when needed. He also attends meetings to give report presentations and works on special consulting engagements. Due to his extensive employee benefit plan audit knowledge, he currently sits on the Board of Directors of CalCPA for the Peer Reviews, which oversees the Peer Review Program for California, Nevada, Arizona, and Alaska. Alex is a former member of the Audit Committee of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. He has also served on the AICPA audit committee for Employee Benefit Plans. One of this committee's responsibilities is to monitor and update the Employee Benefit Audit guide that all auditors use when auditing Employee Benefit Plans. He wrote chapter 10 on the auditing procedures when performing Employer Compliance Audits. When the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) created a special task force of approximately nine people to re-examine SOP 92-6 (Post Retirement Benefit Obligations), he was one of only two people on the committee with extensive multiemployer plan experience. In addition, Alex has been an expert witness for the Assistant U.S. District Attorney's office in a federal criminal jury trial in matters relating to Employee Benefit Plans and the preparation and filing of the Forms 5500.
