Community Health Needs Assessments - Do They Really Matter?

Course Description
Healthcare organizations are under constant regulatory, financial and operational pressures. These day to day pressures can make focusing on requirements like a community health needs assessment challenging. It's easy for this process and the on-going evaluation of results to be one more thing on the compliance checklist. However, it is important to understand there are benefits to completing an assessment beyond just the avoidance of tax and loss of exempt status. Done right, a community health needs assessment can provide you with valuable information to allow the organization to focus its resources on the areas that will have the biggest positive impact on the community.

 Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the general requirements for compliance with the community health needs assessments
  • Determine specific requirements and areas of potential exposure with compliance
  • Analyze the current areas of IRS and governmental focus on hospitals related to 501(r)
  • Discuss the benefits of committing time and resources to your community health needs assessment
