For those constructing or renovating energy efficient commercial building property (EECBP), the Section 179D energy efficiency deduction of up to $1.80 per square foot may apply. This deduction is available to building owners or tenants paying for qualifying improvements.
In addition, the “designer” of governmental owned EECBP is eligible for the deduction. A designer creates the technical specifications for installation of EECBP. This could include, Architects, Engineers and Contractors.
Similarly, the 45L deduction is an energy efficient home credit. Eligible owners may qualify for up to a $2,000 per unit tax credit for the construction or renovation of certain energy efficient residential property.
