This is it… you’ve done it! You’ve worked hard throughout college. Now it’s time to put all you’ve learned in the classroom into real world application.
But where do you start?
Eide Bailly has teamed up with college career centers across the country in search of the best and brightest talent. This could be you! If you’re interested in the opportunity to work for the firm, here are the top 10 things you can do to prepare:
-
Look for accounting-related job fairs. Check your school’s career center for information on “Meet the Firm” events or other accounting-related job fairs. If Eide Bailly recruits on your campus, stop by and visit with us!
-
Research the firms and find your fit. New to researching jobs? Here are some tips and tricks.
-
Polish up that resume. Do you need tips or tricks? In addition to your campus career centers and career advisors at school, we’ve put together a cheat sheet for you here.
-
Apply! Check position listings. Return to your campus career center to see if Eide Bailly has positions posted there. We go on-campus to 60+ schools and like to follow their process. If we post at your school, follow the directions to apply there. If we do not post at your school, we do have general Intern and Associate positions posted on our careers page for you to apply to.
-
Sign up for your interview. If you are selected for an on-campus interview, you will receive an email or call from the campus career center. So, watch your email inbox and voicemail. Stay in touch with your campus career center so you are aware of their process. Sign up for your interview quickly.
-
Practice interviewing. Check with your campus career center for opportunities to take part in mock interviews. Friends and family can be a great resource as well, acting as the interviewer and asking common interview questions. You may need to practice alone; and if that is the case, you will want to say your responses out loud. You want to get your “practice answer” out of the way to ensure it sounds as good out loud as it does in your head.
-
Dress for success. Often, appearance can be the first impression. Make sure you look up for the job.
-
Nail your interview. It’s time to interview. Remain relaxed and know you’ll do great – you’ve been preparing for this moment for years!
-
Wait patiently. You’re all done! Eide Bailly Human Resources will do their thing and reach out to you as soon as a decision has been made.
-
Send a “thank you” note. Whether you choose to hand-write a card or send an email, every interviewer appreciates some follow-up after the interview. Just make sure your thank you is genuine and specific to the person receiving it.
Congratulations! Finally, that hard work has paid off. Get ready to embark on the best career journey you can imagine. On your mark, get set… go!
