Today, we are being notified by many clients that they are receiving what appears to be official IRS notices. The e-mails are not all the same, but have a common theme: they say that a recent tax payment has been rejected by the receiver’s bank and the e-mail instructs them to open a report to find out more details.
The IRS does NOT contact taxpayers directly via e-mail. These e-mails are scams and should not to be opened or responded to.
