Situation
The attorney's client was being sued for alleged malpractice and needed a valuation expert to provide an independent calculation of economic damages to present in court. Eide Bailly's litigation and valuation team was asked by the attorney to provide a report of economic damages in this professional malpractice case. One of our professionals was brought in as a back up expert, while an economist served as the primary expert.
Solution
We obtained information from the attorney and conducted independent research and an analysis of the opposing side's allegations. After reviewing the information, we determined a value and testified in court. Eide Bailly used a simplistic approach to explain its conclusions to ensure that the jury understood exactly what the report determined. Because of our experience with previous economic damages cases, we were able to overcome several of the opposing side's claims and established a strong foundation for our conclusion.
