IRS Sets Maximum HSA Contributions for 2015

The IRS recently announced the new maximum Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution amounts for the 2015 calendar year. The contribution limits are as listed:

  • Individual - Single Coverage: $3,350
  • Individual - Family Coverage: $6,650
  • Catch-up Contribution*: $1,000


* Those who turn 55 by the end of the tax year can contribute up to an additional $1000 each year.

Impact of Mandates on HRAs and Cafeteria Plans

The IRS and the Department of Labor have concluded most Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) and flexible spending accounts (FSAs) will not be able to comply with certain mandates of the Affordable Care Act unless the plans are amended or redesigned.
