The statewide competition encourages entrepreneurs, inventors, small businesses and students to submit their breakthrough business ideas to compete for more than $130,000 in prize money and support from state business leaders, the University of Minnesota and the State of Minnesota.
The Minnesota Cup accepts entries from a wide range of business ideas. The competition includes the following divisions: Clean Technology & Renewable Energy, High Tech, BioSciences, Social Entrepreneurship, General and Student.
Eide Bailly is pleased to be a sponsor of the Clean Technology and Renewable Energy Division, which advances the “clean” revolution by recognizing and supporting innovators who will help advance Minnesota’s clean technologies. Those technologies include renewable energy, biofuels, conservation, energy efficiency and sustainable products and chemicals. Eide Bailly partner James Schmidt, CPA, serves the renewable energy industry and is on the Clean Technology and Renewable Energy Review Board of Judges.
In the last five years, nearly 4,000 contestants from across the state have participated in the competition. All entrepreneurs are encouraged to enter, from those who are just putting their ideas together, to those who have business plans in place and are building their business ventures. Minnesotans can submit entries online at www.minnesotacup.org through May 21, 2010.
