FUN Facts About Me
Title:
Senior Audit Associate
Hometown:
Jamestown, N.D.
School:
University of North Dakota, Grand Forks
My Career Path:
After an internship in Minneapolis, I started my career with Eide Bailly in Aberdeen, S.D. I transferred to the Fargo, N.D., office nine months later.
My career path is somewhat unique. I work 100 percent of my time in the insurance industry. The majority of my time is spent in the insurance regulatory world, which includes SAS 70s, Exhibit Cs (IT exams) and State Financial exams. I spend the remainder of my time working on financial statement audits.
Describe your typical day at Eide Bailly:
I travel quite a bit—roughly 75 to 85 nights annually—so a typical day in the office is different than on the road. I am a morning person, so when I am in the office I get there early, usually by 6:30 a.m. The first thing I do is enter my time for the previous day’s work. Then, I work on my “to do” list, which includes all open audits I’m in charge of. I usually take an early lunch around 11:30 a.m. Then, I work the rest of the afternoon until I get my work done, sometimes until 5:30-6:30 p.m.
The majority of my clients are significant distances away, so I fly to their locations. Our audit team generally flies out together on Sunday night or early Monday morning, and we return Friday afternoon. We work hard each day on location, and then enjoy group dinners in the evenings. This is a great way to develop camaraderie and cohesiveness within our team—working, eating and having fun together.
With that said, no two weeks are the same and this is what makes my job fun!
Hobbies:
My hobbies include fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, watching sports, working out, skiing and hanging out with family and friends.
Why I chose Eide Bailly:
I chose Eide Bailly because of the Firm’s great reputation. Eide Bailly has a fun work atmosphere and an outstanding culture! I also had an incredible experience meeting Eide Bailly staff and recruiters when they came to UND. This assured me that Eide Bailly was the place for me.
If I won a million dollars today:
I would buy a lake home in northern Minnesota and make it my personal fishing and hunting paradise!
