FUN Facts About Me
Title:
Tax Senior Associate
Hometown:
St. Cloud, Minn.
School:
St. Cloud State University
My Career Path:
I started working at Eide Bailly right out of college. I went to Meet Eide Bailly Day in the spring 2008 and signed up for an audit interview in the fall. I didn’t get an interview, so I went to the Auditing and Accounting Student Conference in Minneapolis and stopped by the Eide Bailly booth. I visited with the recruiter about a possible tax position and got a phone call a few days later to come in for an interview. I accepted the job offer a few days after the interview and haven’t looked back.
Describe your typical day at Eide Bailly:
Being in the tax department, roughly 90 to 95 percent of my time is spent in the office, but being in the office everyday doesn’t always mean the same routine. I go through all of my open projects and returns, prioritize them and identify questions for the clients. I try to stay efficient and keep the projects moving. Sometimes I work on one return for a couple of days, some days I work on numerous returns. That is the beautiful thing – the variety of work.
Hobbies:
I love to spend as much time at the lake and on the water as possible – wakeboarding, tubing and skiing. I’ve also developed a passion for triathlons and the multisport lifestyle. It helps keep me busy. I also spend as much time as I can with family and friends.
Why I chose Eide Bailly:
I chose Eide Bailly because of the people and the culture. That’s what truly set Eide Bailly apart from any other accounting firm that I interviewed with. I immediately felt comfortable when I stepped off the elevators and into the office.
If I won a million dollars today I would:
I would buy a new truck and wakeboard boat. I would buy my parents something nice for all they have done for me over the years. I would definitely donate a portion of the money. Then, I would probably save the rest until my wife and I figure out what we want to do with it!
Three things you’ll find on my desk:
Photos of my wife and our dog, paper and my ten key (I’d be lost without it!).
My first job:
I mowed lawns. It was great because I enjoyed the summers outdoors, while getting paid at the same time.
